Decatur Audubon Society
Our monthly membership meetings are usually
held the third Sunday of the month in the auditorium at Rock Springs Nature
Center, 3939 Nearing Lane, off Brozio Lane southwest of Decatur, Illinois. We meet at
2:00 p.m. for a bird study session, then the regular meeting and program follow the Bird Study, which usually runs 20 to 30 minutes. .During the summer months, we usually
meet in a local park or natural area at 4:15 to 4:30
p.m. on the third Sunday for a potluck meal and a program or a hike. In May our
membership meeting is on a Saturday at 8:00 a.m. when we meet for
an outdoor potluck breakfast, followed by installation of new officers and then sometimes a hike. Guests are welcome to attend bird study sessions, meetings, picnics, hikes and other events.
Board meetings are usually held the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Rock Springs Center. Members are welcome to attend Board meetings.

Our Bird Study is on a birdfeeding study using industrial hemp as wild bird food, presented by Millikin University's Dr. David Horn.
Following the Bird Study we have a presentation by Celeste Wolf, Mt. Zion High School student who was the recipient of a scholarship grant from Decatur Audubon to attend Climate Journalism Camp at the College of the Atlantic in Maine last summer. Celeste will tell of her journalism camp experience and climate journalism training.
