Audubon Adventures and Grants and Scholarships available

The Decatur Audubon Society offers educational opportunities and financial assistance to students and teachers in the Decatur and Macon County area. We provide Audubon Adventures at no cost to the schools for local classrooms. We help with funding to bring other nature programming into Decatur and Macon County schools. We offer Bus Transportation Grants for schools to increase the availability of field trips and other nature-focused educational programming at the Rock Springs Nature Center and other Macon County Conservation District sites.

Audubon Adventures

Audubon Adventures

Audubon Adventures is an environmental education curriculum product created by the National Audubon Society for grades 3-5. Developed by professional environmental educators, Audubon Adventures presents standards-based science content about birds, wildlife, and their habitats.

Audubon Adventures introduces young people, their families, and their teachers to the fundamental principles by which the natural world functions. Our print publications and website offer an exciting, science-based exploration of those principles at work anchored in nonfiction reading and outdoor and classroom activities that help kids to care for our planet by helping birds and other wildlife.

Decatur Audubon funds the full cost of Audubon Adventures for use in local classrooms. Many Macon County teachers have found the Audubon Adventures materials to be an invaluable resource for their classes. Audubon Adventures may also be used for home schools, after-school programs, camp programs, ESL classes, scouts' programs and more.
